Since 1959 when the 1st Crosstown Classic game was played between Edison vs Bullard, (it ended in a 0-0 tie). In the series, Edison has won 29 games and Bullard has won 27 games. With 2 ties. Now that' a rivalry!
The Pag Meter says that Bullard overall has the better team but the only team that can beat Bullard is Bullard. So many questions for the Knights! How will the Knights comeback after the loss to Sanger? Will the Knights get that hungry and angry feeling back or will they come in cocking like last Thursday?
For the Tigers, they are playing with house money because they are not expected to make a run this year and that should make them dangerous.
Both teams have very good defenses. Both teams can run the football and both teams struggle throwing the football.
I don’t like football at Chukchansi Park for two reasons.
No 1, the fans hate it because they can’t really see the action and they both have to sit on the same side. Flat out silly! Plus it’s about 20 bucks for a soda.
No 2, the players have to play on the infield dirt 30 % of the time and the cleats that both teams use do not work. Can you imagine if it rained? It’s like playing at Bakersfield High school.
Both teams will want to pound it so this game comes down to who plays the best defense will win. It is the running backs of Tigers Jaylan King vs Knights Charles Williams. The X factor is which offense can throw the ball?

The Pag Meter says that Madera South is looking for their 1st CMAC win in school history. Since 2004 the Stallions are 0-18 and for the Stallions to have any chance at a real high seed in the division 4 playoffs, they have to win this game. QB Jonah Johnson is back after sitting out last week of being banged up. The Coyotes are not the same team since head coach Bonner Cunnings was suspended and won’t be the same team the rest of the way. The Coyotes defense is good to go against Madera South because it’s a stack the box D with man to man pressure on the wide receivers.
The Stallions don’t throw a lot but they just might try to hit the big play in this game.
No question that Johnson will be the best player on the field if he is healthy. There could be a lot of points scored.

The Pag Meter says If you have to play the CMAC champion Sanger Apaches, a week after beating Bullard is the best time. Sanger could start out slow with a let down from last week but I’m thinking maybe just a little one and will crank it up. For Memorial, this is not your usual hard noise Panthers team but instead a more of a finesse team. To beat Sanger, SJM will have to be both, a finesse and a hard hitting team and has to hit the big plays. Both teams are looking at a high seed in the playoffs.

For the year Jones has rushed for 2,057 yards and has scored 26 TD’s. Monache lost to Tulare Union 55-41 and they gave up 400 yards rushing and now get Jones. The good news for Monache is Porterville’s defense is not very good. Porterville needs to win to get in the playoffs and Monache will not enter.

The Pag Meter says that the Mustangs have new life on offense with junior QB Andre Aguilar who is 4-0 since he became eligible and the BIG job of a QB is wins! Now the Mustangs play their big brother the Redskins for the East Yosemite champions.
The X factor in this this game is, can the Mustangs slow down Kazmeir Allen who rushed for 330 yards and scored 3 TD's in the win over Monache? Romello Harris might play but why? Save him. TU has a fantastic offense but will give up points. If TW wins, they move way up in the division 3 seedings. If TU wins they will be 10-0 and could be a No 2-4 seed in the division 4. The Pag Meter would have them at the No 4 seed because of the softer schedule over Ridgeview, Lemoore and Sanger so we will see. TW needs to play their best game on defense to win. If Tulare Union wins,, it will be the 13th EYL championship under head coach Darren Bennett in 21 seasons, and 8th since 2005. Now that is a program! Tulare Union leads the series, 36-14. The Pag Meter says that this will be a very good game. Lions head coach Anthony Taylor comes back to where he helped the Panthers win a state title as the offensive coordinator in 2011.
The Panthers have one of the top defenses in division 4. The Lions are the team that has tons of talent but should have a better record and can change all that with a win. A Lions win and they can be champions if Liberty can upset Chowchilla.
The Lions sophomore QB Sean Chambers is the X factor because he can run and throw the ball. I’m not in love with the Kerman offensive game plan most of the time because it’s a lot of Chambers running like he is a fullback from shotgun right up the middle and I hate to see that with a gifted young QB. The Lions have the talent to win it all but that won’t happen with the offensive thinking. Can the Lions defense step up against a speedy Panthers team? If the Panthers win, they are the North Sequoia league champions and a possible No 2 seed because they beat Chowchilla. If the Lions can work the clock and keep it low scoring, they have a shot! I’m betting on the Lions will play their best game of the year.

If the Drillers still ran their triple option, they could shorten the game up with long drives so now they have to hope for some big plays. The big question will be is if the Patriots win, where will the red hot Pates land in the playoffs with 3 losses and with 2 wins over top 10 teams? Stay tuned.

The Broncos pass defense is not good and either is the Bears passing game. This game is about who wins the battle on the line of scrimmage. Can the Bears slow down red hot Jayson Lee and can the Broncos slow the Bears backs of Chuby Dunu and Trevor Ervin? This should be a very good game!!

The Pag Meter says that Central needs to win to play in the playoffs. CE is already in the playoffs because that is why we have the TRAC with all the Clovis schools in it. CUSD made a deal with the CIF that wanted a Clovis unified league and it will be the toughest league in the valley but we want all the teams to make the playoffs. The CIF said in return, hey that will make our job easy and we will leave it to all the teams in the valley if they want to enter the playoffs. It is more $$ for the CIF. Last year the Clovis Boys tennis team enter the playoffs at 0-22. This is why the Pag Meter calls the 1st round a tournament and not the playoffs.
Back to football, CE has not won a TRAC game since Oct 16, 2009. The streak is now at 0-32. The Grizzlies play their best football at home. The T Wolves have a real good offense with TB Marcus Washington and QB Trey Semiem vs Grizzlies QB Nick Szpor.
The The X Factor is the T Wolves defense because it is struggling tackling anybody.

The Pag Meter says that is the USC vs UCLA of the central valley. One of the best rivalries in the state! These players have been playing against each other since the 7th grade so throw out the records once it is kicked off.
The Golden Eagles are in the same boat as Clovis was last year with being young and really a year away just like Clovis was but does have plenty of senior studs with Caleb Kelly and Darian Owens. This is the Cougars time and a big contender to win it all. The Cougars will counter with the hottest QB on the planet with Sean Kuenzinger who tied a school record with 6 TD’s last week in the win over Clovis North.
There are so many X factors in this game!
No 1, is the CW secondary and can they slow down the Cougars passing attack which is lead by WR’s J.J. Wills and Coltin Velasquez?
No 2, is CW sophomore QB Adrian Martinez. He will be starting his 9th game so he’s not a sophomore any longer. Martinez needs to do his thing and have a great game for CW to win.
No 3 X factor is the two CW stars of Darian Owens and Caleb Kelly. Kelly really stepped up last week with a huge game and needs to do it again this week. Owens has not had a Owens break out game as of yet. Will it come tonight?
No 4, who can run the ball better between the tackles? CW Khalil Harshaw vs Clovis Josh Hokit.
If the Cougars win, they are the TRAC champions (tiebreaker wins over Clovis North and Buchanan) and should be the No 1 seed.
Side note;The Pag Meter gets really confused when I hear people saying that Liberty should get the No 1 seed over Clovis if the the Cougars finish at 9-1. Let’s see, Clovis big wins over Top 10 teams of Clovis North, Buchanan, Centennial and a possible Clovis West. Liberty has just Centennial and Buchanan. It’s like the twilight zone of thinking. I have Bullard with bigger wins over Liberty.
If CW wins they are looking at the possible No 3-5 seed. This could be a shoot out.
