Predictions for week 9
This is the time of year where teams are close at clinching league titles. Here is another thing that the Pag Meter must change and it’s called common sense when it comes to a league champion!!
Example, In high school football you play a team in league just one time so you will have a champion or a 3 way tie. It’s pretty simple.
Let’s look at the CMAC, Sanger has beaten Edison and Bullard. Even if Sanger loses to Memorial in week 10, Sanger is the champion because they beat Edison and Bullard straight up in a tie breaker.
Now if Bullard would have beaten Sanger on Thursday night and Edison beats Bullard in week 10, then you got yourself a 3 way tie because Edison, Sanger and Bullard all beat each other and would have had 1 loss each.
I hope that made sense to everybody. In basketball, teams will play each other home and away so you can have co-champions if they split games.
I hope when teams have their league meetings that they all vote for this. The South Sequoia league did and I’m a big fan because they get it.
If I was a coach or AD of a team that lost the head to head game and they considered me a co-champion, I would take that trophy and throw it in the garbage because everybody would know who the real champion is.

If Sanger wins they are the CMAC champions. If Bullard wins then they have to beat Edison in week 10 to be the Champions.
Two very good defenses along with two hot offenses. The Apaches have RB Isaiah Hilliard who has rushed for 1,141 yards and has scored 20 TD’s. The Knights have Charles Williams who has rushed for 1,524 yards. The difference is Bullard can throw the ball if needed and Sanger hates to throw the ball. Bullard QB Jack Taylor is the X factor in every game.
Chuck Shidan in his 26th year is 188-108 and Donnie Arax is 118-62-1 in his 15th year.
The Pag Meter says that I can’t see the Apaches scoring more than 14 points against the Knights defense. Bullard has won 8 straight games over Sanger away from Sanger and that’s not a fluke. Defensive Coordinator Yosef Fares and Arax are very good at coaching against the triple option. The defense is led by junior linebackers of Ben Baker and Cameron Lamanuzzi.

Sanger beat up Bullard and Bullard did not have a back up plan after the inside running was crushed. The Sanger defense is very good!!
Kicker Andrew Azua scored on a perfect 10 yard fake field goal. QB Michael Castillo hit Aaron Mosby on a beautiful 41 yard TD pass and Isaiah Hilliard scored a 17 yard TD run. 3 big turnovers for Bullard and give credit to the Sanger defense for making the hits.

This is a really good matchup and a big seeding game. If Central wins they are looking at the No 7 or 8 seed and a home game. CW needs to come out fast and get a lead. They have been a 2nd half team all year. Can CW play well for 48 minutes? This game will tell a lot of how CW will do next week vs Clovis.
The X factor for both teams is Central needs to have the wide receivers catch the darn football. The Grizzlies lead division 1 in drop passes. The X factor for the Golden Eagles is they must be able to run between the tackles.
The Pag Meter says if CW can run the football to go with the weapons of sophomore QB Adrian Martinez, WR’s of Darian Owens and Caleb Kelly, then they win. The Grizzlies has the passing attack of senior QB Nick Szpor. This is a statement game for Clovis West and a must win. It's time for 5 star player Caleb Kelly to take this team over especially with the playoffs coming up.

Both teams have issues coming in. The Coyotes on film looked like they have quit after head coach Bonner Cunnings was suspended for the rest of the year. Dion Cordero takes over as head coach for the Coyotes. Edison has a bunch of players suspended that will be back for week 10.
The Pag Meter says that the Tigers will be unstoppable running the football between the tackles with running backs of Jaylan King and LaRue Temple. This is the time of the year when the weather gets a little cooler for Tiger time. The Tigers are peaking at the right time. They have to cut down on the stupid mistakes. For an example, the Tigers had 7 offside penalties on the defensive line last Friday. That’s flat out dumb mistakes that should never happen especially in week 9. The Tigers wide receivers can’t catch a cold so don’t look for the Tigers to throw the ball a ton. The Coyotes will get boat raced without head coach Bonner Cunnings. The Coyotes have the best kicker in the valley in Evan Rios so if the Coyotes reach the 40 yard line...they are in field goal range.. Hey Fresno state, you might want to check out Rios before he ends up at Boise St, USC or UCLA !

Pag Meter says that the Bears were in the driver’s seat for a possible TRAC championship but got beat up by Clovis so now they have to hope they get help from a bunch of teams. The outstanding Bears defense got pounded and the usual Bears offense can’t throw the ball. So what team will show up this week against a very good Clovis East offense? The good news for the Bears is the T Wolves defense is bad and can’t stop anybody. If CE could somehow play over their skis on defense then they have a chance. But then again….The defense is helping the T Wolves for a possible 0-5 in the TRAC again and keeps the streak alive now at 0-31 for losing a TRAC league game. CE has not won TRAC game since Oct 16, 2009, beating Clovis.

The Cougars showed me something in the crushing win over Buchanan that they want to win it all. They physically beat up the Bears.
The Broncos come in with a very physical offense. It is the Cougars passing attack with QB Sean Kuenzinger who has thrown for 2,031 yards and 20 TD passes and the Broncos will counter with running back Jayson Lee who is a TD machine especially late in the game.
The X Factor now is Cougars power running back with Josh Hokit and boy does he turn the Cougars into a valley championship contender.
This should be a great game. The question mark for me is the Broncos defense because they will give up points. There could be a lot of points scored in this one. I can't see the Broncos slowing down the red hot Cougars offense unless they can play with 13 players!!
